MORGANTON, N.C. — Families looking for kid-friendly entertainment will soon have a new option in Burke County.

The CoMMA Performing Arts Center has announced its new Family Stage Series, a lineup of four performances aimed at introducing younger audiences to live theater during the 2026-2027 season.

CoMMA officials say the idea was developed after staff attended youth and family showcase events and saw growing interest in programming designed specifically for children.

“There is so much amazing talent out there and we knew we needed to create something for the younger generation,” said Events Manager Amber Austin.

The Family Stage Series schedule includes:

• Donna Washington: Fun, Foolery & Folktales — August 1, 2026

• The Magic of Jeki Yoo — November 7, 2026

• Frosty: A Musical Adventure — December 19, 2026

• Peter Pan — February 6, 2027

Officials say the productions are designed to encourage imagination, creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts while providing affordable entertainment for families.

Tickets for each show are $13 plus tax.

In addition to the new performance series, CoMMA is offering three theater technology workshops this summer for students entering grades 9 through 12. The workshops will focus on stagecraft, lighting and audio production, with participants who complete all three sessions eligible to apply for backstage internship opportunities connected to future productions.

The full CoMMA season lineup is expected to be released in July.
