TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — A Claremont man is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center after authorities say he failed to appear in court on a felony larceny charge.

According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Anthony Wayne Christopher was taken into custody Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear after missing a recent court date connected to a 2025 Alexander County case involving alleged felony larceny from a construction site.

Jail records show Christopher remained in custody as of Thursday. Information regarding bond or his next court appearance was not immediately available.

A failure-to-appear warrant is issued when a defendant does not appear for a scheduled court hearing. Christopher is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
