Citation Jet Veers Off Runway at Statesville Regional Airport During Storm, No Injuries
STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) – According to Statesville Regional Airport, at approximately 6:25 p.m. Thursday (August 6) a Citation jet based at the airport landed during a heavy storm. After landing, the aircraft veered off the runway and came to rest in a field within the airport boundary. Two people were on board, and no injuries were reported.
The airport was temporarily closed while the aircraft was removed and the runway was inspected. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate the incident. Airport officials confirmed to WHKY that the airport and runway reopened Thursday.
