A three-year-old child was shot and killed yesterday (August 31) near Statesville.
At about 4:30 Thursday afternoon, Iredell County Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Fort Dobbs Road, north of Statesville. When Deputies arrived on the scene about 30 seconds after receiving the call, they found a neighbor performing C.P.R. on a three-year-old child who had been shot. The child was then flown to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The victim died at the hospital shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Investigators and Detectives responded to the scene, conducted interviews, and collected evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
