Cherryville Man Jailed on Charges from Lincoln & Gaston Counties
55-year-old Charles Richard Crowder of Cherryville has been arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of oxycodone, possession of a firearm by a felon, and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public officer. He was also charged with a probation violation.
Crowder was arrested Monday (October 30) when a Narcotics Investigator working the area near the 7000 block of West N.C. Highway 27 noticed Crowder walking along the roadway. The Investigator knew Crowder had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. The Officer confronted Crowder, who attempted to resist arrest, but was quickly subdued.
After Crowder was taken into custody, the Investigator found four ounces of meth, small amounts of marijuana & oxycodone, and a firearm on his person. The suspect is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess a firearm.
Crowder was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $160,000 secured bond on the Lincoln County charges and he was placed on a no bond hold for Gaston County. He’ll appear in a Lincoln County courtroom on November 20 with a Gaston County court date on November 16.
