LONG VIEW, N.C. (WHKY) – 37-year-old Daniel Patrick McCommon of 39th Street SW in Hickory was arrested Friday (July 24) on charges filed by the Long View Police Department and Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. McCommon is charged by Long View Police with failure to register as a sex offender, statutory rape of a child 15-years-old or younger, and indecent liberties with a child. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office charged McCommon with solicitation by computer.

McCommon is on the sex offender registry as a result of a conviction in Orange County, Florida in 2012 for traveling to meet a minor using a computer. He was incarcerated in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $325,000 bond. A Monday (July 27) District Court date was scheduled.
