Catawba Man Accused of Trafficking Opioids

43-year-old Patrick Thomas Havens of Sugar Farm Road in Catawba was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers Sunday (July 31) on felony counts of trafficking in opioids by possession and trafficking in opioids by transportation.

He was arrested after Investigators stopped a vehicle on Highway 16 South for a window tint violation. Patrick Thomas Havens was the driver. A narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the presence narcotics in the vehicle. A search resulted in the discovery and seizure of 79 grams of Fentanyl and a quantity of U.S. currency.

Havens was taken into custody and placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $75,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of this afternoon (August 2). A first appearance in Catawba County District Court was scheduled yesterday in Newton with another court date coming up on August 22.
