Catawba County Man Dies From Injuries Sustained In Crash

A man was killed as a result of injuries sustained in a Catawba County crash. The deceased is 37-year-old Darryl Marvin Craven of Catawba.

On Monday (March 25) shortly after 8:00 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to N.C. 10 near Little Road. A 2020 Alfa Romeo passenger car was traveling east on N.C. 10, when the driver lost control, drove off the right side of the road, and struck a tree.

The driver, Darryl Marvin Craven, was critically injured and transported by medical helicopter to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He passed away as a result of his injuries Tuesday morning (March 26).

The initial investigation indicates excessive speed to be the contributing factor in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
