SHERRILLS FORD, N.C. (WHKY) — Catawba County has completed improvements to its Sherrills Ford Convenience Center, expanding the site and adding several recycling services.

Commissioners Barbara Beatty and Cole Setzer joined county staff and community members for a ribbon cutting Tuesday, September 22.

The redesigned center has a larger layout, an improved entrance and exit, and upgraded lighting. Residents may now recycle used motor oil and oil filters, antifreeze and cooking oil at the location.

The county says the site was designed to serve about 100 users a day. Catawba County has operated a convenience center there since 1976 and purchased the property from Duke Energy Carolinas in December 2022.

The center is at 8876 Sherrills Ford Road. County information lists regular hours as 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The center’s telephone number is 828-478-2248.
