Catawba County Commissioners Meet, Approve Items Following Public Hearings

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday (August 16). The board conducted a public hearing to consider an option to purchase approximately 53 acres and acquire approximately two acres of property located along East Maiden Road for the purposes of economic development. The board approved this item.

Another public hearing was held to consider an application to rezone two properties, with a total size of approximately 3.28 acres, from Rural Commercial (RC) to Highway Commercial (HC). The properties are located at 5845 Walnut Grove Lane and 4930 South N.C. 127 Highway in the Mountain View Small Area Planning District. Commissioners approved this item as well.

A public hearing was also conducted to consider an application to rezone approximately 83 acres from R-30 Residential to Planned Development – Conditional Zoning. The property is located in the Sherrills Ford Small Area and Highway 150 Corridor Plans. The board also approved this item.

Commissioners approved the four consent agenda items which included a reauest from library staff that the board accept and appropriates grant funds in the amount of $22,014 to the Catawba County Library from a Federal IMLS, Library Services Technology Act Project Grant: Wi-Fi for All.
