Catawba County Commissioners Meet, Approve Economic Development Agreement, Deny Manufactured Home Park Rezoning
Catawba County Commissioners met in regular session Monday (April 17). A public hearing was held to receive comments on a request from the Economic Development Corporation to consider approval of economic development agreement with South East Industrial Solutions, LLC. The company is seeking to develop a 40,000 square foot shell manufacturing building to facilitate the creation of new jobs and future tax base. The board approved this item.
A public hearing was also held to consider an application from Skadoosh Properties to rezone a parcel of approx 30.9 acres on Bush Drive from R-40 Residential to Manufactured Home Park. This would be to allow for development of a manufactured home park with up to 74 spaces. The board voted unanimously to deny the rezoning.
Six consent agenda items were presented including a request from the Finance & Personnel Subcommittee. The request is to adopt proposed revisions to the American Rescue Plan Act Project grant ordinance and to appropriate $1,772,682 in local funds freed up by this transaction to the Hickory EMS Base project. The consent agenda also included a request from staff to authorize the Stonecroft Subdivision Road and Retreat Subdivision Road Improvement Projects and adopt the Preliminary Assessment Resolutions for these projects. Commissioners approved all six consent agenda items.
