Catawba County Commissioners, Hickory City Council Meet In Regular Session

Catawba County Commissioners met in regular session Monday night (April 3). There were two consent agenda items presented. One of the items was a request from the Policy and Public Works subcommittee. They requested that Commissioners approve a budget revision to appropriate $410K in projected Fiscal Year 2023 building services revenue over-collections.

The other item on the consent agenda was a request from county staff to declare the badge and service weapon of retiring Sheriff Deputy Scott Sawyer as surplus. The items will be presented to Sawyer at a retirement ceremony at a later date. Commissioners approved the consent agenda.

The board also approved a request from staff to adopt a Resolution approving the abandonment of a .05-mile portion of Fighting Creek Road. The abandonment was pursuant to a petition filed with the NCDOT by Brookfield Holdings, LLC.

Hickory City Council met in regular session Tuesday (April 4). Minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all approved. Transportation Planning Manager John Marshall presented the N.C. Department of Transportation updates. One member was appointed to boards and commissions.

There were also presentations of proclamations for National Public Safety Telecommunications Week for the Hickory Police Department Telecommunicators, and for Fair Housing Month to members of the Catawba Valley Association of Realtors.
