Catawba County Budget Adopted During Commissioners Meeting, Tax Rate Remains The Same

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday night (June 6).

County Manager Mick Berry presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Annual Budget for adoption. As WHKY previously reported, on May 16 the budget was initially presented to the board. During that presentation, the County Manager told Commissioners that the budget totals $306,084,992 and maintains the current $.575 tax rate. During Monday’s meeting, the board adopted the budget.

In addition during Monday’s meeting, the Policy and Public Works Subcommittee requested that the board authorize the Norman Plantation Subdivision Roads Improvement Project and adopt the Preliminary Assessment Resolution for that project. The board approved those items.

Staff requested that Commissioners approve an amendment to the Bound Tree Medical, LLC contract, increasing the contract sum by $50,000.00 per fiscal year for the purchase of EMS medical supplies and pharmaceuticals. The board also approved this item.

Commissioners also adopted the Consent Agenda, which included three items. One of the items on the Constent agenda was a request from the Policy & Public Works Subcommittee approving the purchase of property on Sherrills Ford Road for a Convenience Center. That item also included authorizing the County Manager to execute agreements related to purchase, and approve budget revision for purchase in the amount of $81,200.

Also during Monday’s Catawba County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Community Child Protection and Fatality Prevention Team presented their annual report. Commissioners approved the presentation and priorities.
