The Caldwell Community College women’s basketball team fell to Spartanburg Methodist, 83-40 in the Cobras first conference match of the season.
The Cobras were outscored in the first quarter, 17-7 and in the second 27-15 as Spartanburg raced out to a 44-22 halftime lead. Caldwell would keep it close in the third quarter, being only outscored by four, but the Cobras managed only two points in the final frame.
The Cobras were led by Amiya Randles who scored 13 points. She was the only player to score in double figures for the Cobras. Kaitlyn Brock added nine points, Paola Martinez scored seven, Nikya Lynch added six. Mikayla Hill had three points and Arika Jenkins added two to wrap up the scoring for the Cobras.
Caldwell falls to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in Region 10 Div. 1 play. Caldwell returns to action at Carolina Christian University on Sunday at 8:30pm.
