The Caldwell Community College softball team swept a doubleheader on the road against Wake Tech Friday, winning game one 16-4 and game two 18-2.
In game one, Caldwell scored five runs in the top of the first inning in route to a 16-4 Region 10 Division 2 victory that was called in the fifth inning due to mercy rule. The Cobras got homeruns from Zoey Boston and Kiera Dewey, and a triple from Ashlyn Castle. Boston led the team with four RBI, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Bri Lewis, Brittney Reynolds, and Castle each had two RBI. Lexi Jones had two RBI for Wake Tech with her double in the bottom of the third inning.
In game two, Caldwell jumped out to an early lead on their way to a 18-2 mercy rule victory over Wake Tech. The victory was Caldwell’s 21st overall and 12th in a row. The Cobras outscored the Eagles 34-6 in the doubleheader sweep.
Kiara Dewey had two homeruns in game two, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Bri Lewis and Kaylee Redwine also had homeruns for the Cobras. Julianna Aponte, Ashlyn Castle, and Kileigh Sechrist each hit two doubles. Bri Lewis and Kaylee Redwine both had a double. In addition to Dewey’s three RBI, Sechrist also had three RBI. Christa Walsh, Mackenzie Johnson, Lewis, and Aponte each had two RBI.
Caldwell improves to 21-2 overall, 12-1 in Region 10, Division 2 play.
