Caldwell Softball Opens Season With a Pair of Wins

The Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute softball team opened the season with a doubleheader sweep of USC-Salkehatchie. The Cobras won 8-0 in game one and 7-6 in an eight inning game two.

In game one, Jada Wilson through a complete game, five inning shutout. Wilson allowed six hits, walked only one and struck out eight.

At the plate, Cierra Martin went two-for-three with a home run, a single, and four RBI. Abby Reeves went one-for-two with a double and an RBI. Alyssa McCrary went one-for-two with a single and two RBI. Jenna Davis, Brianna Lewis, Jada Wilson, and Taylor Moody all had singles.

In game two, Abby Reeves went three-for-four with two singles and a double and an RBI. Brittney Reynolds was a perfect three-for-three, with two singles, a double, and an RBI. Jenna Davis went two-for-four with two singles and an RBI. Brianna Lewis went two-for-four with a single and a double. Juliana had a two-RBI single. Mackenzie Johnson also had a single.

Ashlyn Castle picked up the win for the Cobras. She piched, 6.1 innings, allowing five hits, three runs, walking four and striking out two. Abby Reeves went three-for-four with two singles, a double and she had an RBI.

Caldwell is 2-0 on the season and will host Montreat JV on Wednesday in a double header starting at 2pm.
