Caldwell Sheriff’s Office Reports Scam

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office reports that they have been made aware of fraudulent calls from individuals claiming to be Deputies with that agency. The caller tells the recipient that they’re seeking money due to a jury summons being missed.

These calls are scam calls and do not send money or any thing of value to them. The callers have used the names of Sergeant Johnson and Deputy Davenport and are indicating that a jury summons was missed and they are seeking money to prevent an arrest.

A Law enforcement officer will never call or email you about paying them money. They would also never demand payment for a missed court date, jury duty or other legal matter, claim there is a warrant issued in your name, or threaten arrest unless you pay a fine.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to not speak to the callers and do not send anything including money to them. If you have any questions about a call you have received contact the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at 828-758-2324.
