LENOIR, N.C. (WHKY) — Caldwell County Economic Development has announced a $186,000 state grant supporting an expansion by Chase Corporation that is expected to create 37 new jobs in Lenoir.

The Building Reuse grant from the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority will help renovate a 103,102-square-foot facility that will be occupied by Chase Corporation, a manufacturer of protective materials including industrial coatings, tapes, adhesives and sealants.

The project is expected to generate $233,274 in private investment while adding the 37 jobs and strengthening Caldwell County’s manufacturing sector.

Caldwell County Economic Development Director Ashley Bolick said supporting existing companies is an important part of the county’s economic development strategy.

The grant was among several rural economic development awards announced by Governor Josh Stein on August 20. Statewide, the Rural Infrastructure Authority approved more than $4.9 million in grants supporting projects associated with 673 new jobs and more than $1 billion in private investment.

Caldwell County officials say the Chase Corporation project will help retain an established employer while creating additional opportunities for residents.
