A Caldwell County man is still being sought by authorities in Burke County. 25-year-old Travis Trimble of Hudson is wanted by the Morganton Department of Public Safety on charges of felony fleeing to elude arrest, hit & run, reckless driving to endanger, damage to property, no operators license, and several other charges.
On August 28 at approximately 10:25 p.m., a Public Safety Officer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Trimble to investigate a traffic violation. Trimble initially failed to stop for the marked patrol car’s lights and sirens. The vehicle was reportedly traveling nearly double the posted speed limit on Sanford Drive. When the vehicle did stop, the Officer made contact with Trimble.
The Officer questioned Trimble and noticed the odor of alcohol. Trimble then sped away, made a u-turn in the middle of the roadway, and continued on Sanford Drive at a high rate of speed. At the intersection at Lenoir Road and Kirksey Drive, Trimble failed to make a left turn onto Highway 18 North and instead went straight, hopped the curb, and sideswiped a large tree in the grass in front of Grace Ridge after traveling nearly 130 feet off the roadway. Officers brought K-9 Officer Tigo to the
scene, but were not able to locate the suspect.
Trimble had a pending court date in Caldwell County after reportedly being accused of threatening to kill his neighbor, poisoning a dog, and burning garbage too closely to an apartment building. A Caldwell County District Court date for Trimble was scheduled Monday (September 20). Anyone with information on this suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call the Morganton Department of Public Safety at 828-437-1911 or Morganton/Burke Crimestoppers at 828-437-3333.
