Caldwell County Hires New Veterans Services Director

A New Veterans Services Director has been hired in Caldwell County. The county welcomed Joseph Calloway at a swearing-in ceremony earlier this month. He replaces Regina Goforth, who retired in February, as previously reported on WHKY.

A First Sergeant in the Army Reserve Unit in Hickory NC, Calloway began his military career with the Marine Corps. He joined the Marine Corps in 1992 after graduating from South Caldwell High School. During his time with the Corps, he served in five operations, including Operations Restore and Continue Hope in Mogadishu, Somalia and Operation Deny Flight in Bosnia.

Calloway is a lifelong resident of Hudson. He and his wife have six children and four grandchildren. His predecessor, Regina Goforth, served Caldwell County for 32 years, beginning her career as the secretary in the Fire Marshal’s Office. She was named Veterans Services Director in 2017.
