Caldwell Community College’s Ramirez Named National Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Emily Ramirez was selected as the NJCAA Division III Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for August 28-September 3. She becomes the first student-athlete in program history to be honored for a national player of the week award.
Ramirez, a freshman libero from Crumpler, NC (Ashe County High School), recorded 67 digs in 15 sets played for a 4.47 digs per set average. Caldwell went 4-0 during the week Ramirez was honored and are currently 10-2 on the season. The team was first in receiving votes in this week’s NJCAA Volleyball Division III Top-15 rankings.
Caldwell is at home on Thursday night, hosting USC-Union at 6PM. They will play in a tri-match in Charlotte on Saturday against hosts Johnson & Wales University at 12PM and against Lenoir Community College at 2pm
