Caldwell Community College Volleyball Sweeps Johnson & Wales
Caldwell won their sixth match of the season, winning 3-0 over Johnson & Wales University Tuesday night at South Caldwell High School.
In the first set, Caldwell trailed Johnson & Wales 11-13, before going on an 8-1 run to take control of the set. The Cobras would go on to win the opening set 25-18.
The second set was close early on, with the Wildcats taking a two-point lead at 11-9. The Cobras would battle back ahead, taking a 18-14 lead and forcing Johnson & Wales to call timeout. Caldwell would score seven of the next nine points to close out the set 25-16.
In set three, Caldwell fell behind early but took control at 10-5, forcing a Wildcat timeout. The Cobras would keep at least a four-point advantage the rest of the way before completing the three-set sweep with a 25-18 victory.
Caldwell’s Terayha Bess led the team in hitting percentage at 0.667. Bess also had four kills and two block assists. Laney Craig had a 0.600 hitting percentage and was the team leader in kills with 20. The Cobras’ Emma Grace Hiatt had 22 assists for the match and Catherine Pate had five service aces.
Due to a power outage earlier in the afternoon on the CCC&TI Caldwell Campus in Hudson, the match was moved to South Caldwell High School.
Caldwell improves to 6-2 on the season and will travel to Cleveland Community College on Thursday for a 6PM match.
