Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Central Carolina Community College on Thursday night.
In set one, Caldwell opened the set on a 7-0 run and led 21-10 before closing out the set at 25-18. In the second set, the Cobras led 18-13 and finished off the set on a 7-1 run to win 25-14.
Caldwell trailed briefly only once in the match, starting the third set down 1-0. The Cobras would score the next three points to take a 3-1 lead and went on to win the final set 25-16.
Caldwell finished the regular season 18-5 overall. Caldwell and Sandhills Community College finished tied atop the Region 10 Division 3 standings with 5-1 records. Caldwell won the tiebreaker for most set wins between the two teams and will be the top seed for next weekend’s Region 10 Division Three tournament at Central Carolina. Official pairings and tournament times will be released later this weekend.
