Caldwell Community College softball swept a doubleheader from Camp Community College Friday, winning game one 9-1 and game two, 10-2.
In game one, Caldwell scored three runs in the bottom of the third: Lauren Anderson with a two-RBI triple and Bri Lewis with an RBI single. Caldwell added two more in the bottom of the fourth; Mackenzie Johnson scored on a pass ball and Brittany Reynolds had an RBI.
In the fifth inning Camp got on the board with an RBI single Kaitlyn Robertson. Caldwell would score three in the bottom of the fifth with Abby Reeves hitting a two RBI double and Johnson getting an RBI single. Caldwell would win the game via the mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Ashlyn Castle.
In game two, Caldwell scored two unearned runs in the first inning them broke open the game with a six run third inning. Lauren Anderson got the scoring going with an RBI single, followed by an RBI single by Bri Lewis. After a strike out, the Cobras would get an RBI double from Zoey Boston and a two RBI double from Abby Reeves. Mackenzie Johnson would close out the scoring with an RBI single.
Lauren Anderson would get a leadoff inside the park homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend Caldwell’s lead to 9-0. Camp would get two runs in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI groundout by Katey Goodman and an RBI double by Tatyana Watson.
In the bottom of the fifth, Mackenzie Johnson would get an RBI single to give Caldwell the mercy run 10-2 victory.
Caldwell improved to 30-9 overall, 20-6 in Region 10 Division Two play with the wins.
