Caldwell Community College Softball Earns At-Large Bid to NJCAA National Championship

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s softball team earned an at-large bid to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division Three Softball National Championships, to be held May 22-25 in Chattanooga, TN.

Caldwell (27-19 on the season) were the Region 10 runner-up. They join the eight-team field as the only at-large bid. Caldwell spent much of the season ranked in the top ten of NJCAA D3 softball poll. It will be the program’s first appearance in the national tournament.

The Cobras are the fifth seed for the tournament. They will face fourth-seeded Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester, champions of Region 19. The Roadrunners are 24-8 on the season and carry an 11-game winning streak into the tournament.

Caldwell and RCSJ-Gloucester will play Wednesday at 1PM at Warner Park. The winner will face the winner between top seed North Dakota State College of Science and eighth-seeded Rochester (MN) Community and Technical College. The tournament is a double-elimination format.
