Caldwell Community College Men’s Basketball Wins Home Finale

Cobras finished with double digits scoring as Caldwell defeated Denmark Tech 83-68 in men’s basketball Saturday afternoon in Hudson.

It was the final home game of the 2023 season for Caldwell. With the victory, the Cobras finished undefeated at home (13-0) for the first time in program history. Dating back to last season, the Cobras are 25-2 at the ‘Cobra Pit” on the Hudson Campus.

Toyaz Solomon led Caldwell in scoring with 16 points. Pharrell Boyogueno and Brandon Morgan each had 14 points. RJ Black and Linwood Grandy had 11 points apiece as the Cobras won their tenth game in a row and remain undefeated in Region 10 Division One play at 8-0.

Denmark Tech’s Frankie Dennard led all scorers with 17.

Caldwell opened the game on a 5-0 run and led 21-7 with 12:27 remaining in the first half. The Cobras led 42-35 at the half.

Denmark Tech cut the Cobra advantage to 42-40 with 18:19 in the second half on a three pointer by Notorious Holland. Caldwell would respond on a three-point play by Boyogueno that pushed the advantage to 45-40.

Caldwell’s largest lead of the game was 17 points after a three-point play by Jalen Miller with 31 seconds remaining.

The Cobras (20-2) will finish the season with four road games, the first of which is Friday, February 17 against Cape Fear at 6PM.
