Caldwell Community College Men’s Basketball Wins 14th Straight

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s men’s basketball team ran their current winning streak to 14 games with a 94-66 win Wednesday night over Region 10 Division One foe Gaston College.

The Cobras, ranked 23rd in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association men’s basketball rankings, also won their 22nd game in a row at home. Caldwell’s last loss at home came to Gaston on February 24, 2022, by a score of 89-87.

Gaston College (8-12, 1-6 Region 10 D-1), led early in the game before a dunk with by Terrance Johnson gave Caldwell (19-1, 7-0 Region 10 D-1) their first lead at 8-7 with 14:14 left in the first half. The Cobras would take the lead for good with 8:17 left in the first half when a basket by Chris Nobles gave Caldwell a 17-15 lead.

Caldwell’s lead would grow to 18 points as the Cobras took a 44-26 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Caldwell’s Brandon Morgan scored 14 of his team high 18 points as the Cobras pulled away. A three-pointer by Sergej Cvetkovic with 3:15 remaining in the game gave Caldwell their largest lead of the night of 34 points at 88-54.

Pharrell Boyogueno and Torrence Horton each added 17 points for the Cobras.

Gaston was led in scoring by Tyheim Love who had a game high of 20 points.

Caldwell remains atop the Region 10 Division-One standings with a 7-0 record. Brunswick Community College defeated Cape Fear Community College 90-82 on Wednesday night to stay one game back of the Cobras at 6-1.
