Brandon Morgan had his fourth straight 20-plus point outing on Saturday as Caldwell defeated USC-Salk 96-86. Morgan finished with 22 points. Jacob Nixon connected on four three-point baskets in the first half Saturday against USC-Salk. He finsihed the game with five made three-point baskets and 15 points.

Caldwell Community College Men’s Basketball Wins 11th Straight

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute men’s basketball team ran their current winning streak 11 games, defeating Cape Fear Community College 87-75 in a Region 10 D-1 match-up Friday evening in Hudson.

Caldwell (16-1, 4-0 Region 10 D-1) was led in scoring by Brandon Morgan with 26 points. Pharrell Boyogueno chipped in 18 points as the Cobras won at home for the twentieth straight game dating back to the 2022 season.

Cape Fear (8-5, 2-2 Region 10 D-1) led 39-28 with 5:40 remaining in the first half before the Cobras responded with a 14-3 run to end the half and tie the game at 42 heading into intermission.

Caldwell’s Trevur Smalls scored the first four points after halftime as the Cobras took a 46-42 lead two minutes into the second half. Cape Fear would reclaim the lead on a basket Khalil Marshall to lead 52-51 with 15:20 remaining in the game.

The Cobras regained the lead for good on a basket by Chris Nobles at the 14:56 mark, going ahead 53-52. AJ Godley’s layup with 1:07 remaining gave Caldwell their largest lead of the game, 87-71.

Marshall led the Sea Devils in scoring with 18 points. Korey Richardson added 15 in the losing effort.

Caldwell travels to Spartanburg Methodist College on Wednesday for a 7PM tip. Cape Fear will play Gaston College at 3PM on Saturday.
