Caldwell Community College Men’s Basketball Holds On To Beat Richard Bland

Caldwell Communtiy College men’s basketball edged out Richard Bland, 62-61 at home Friday night. RJ Black led all scorers with 18 points as the Cobras held on despite a 10-point advantage at the half.

Cobras led 41-30 with 15:00 remaining but the Statesman rallied to take a 59-54 lead with 3:30 remaining. Pharrell Boyogueno’s two free-throws with 52 seconds remaining gave Caldwell a 62-61 lead, that would hold for the win. Black hit six three pointers, three in each half, to lead all scorers with 18.

Marcus Metcalf was the only other Cobra to score in double digits. He had 11 points.

Other scorers for the Cobras were Boyogueno and Linwood Grandy with eight points. Caleb Mauldin and Jalen Miller both had six points. Toyaz Solomon added three points while James Freeman and Brandon Morgan both had a point.

The win improves the Cobras to a 17-2 overall record, 5-0 in Region X, Division 1 play and they have a seven game winning streak.
