Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s men’s basketball, playing their first game in nine days, overcame a slow start to defeat Sandhills Community College 99-80 Saturday afternoon in Pinehurst.
The Flyers got out to an early lead, leading by as much as 12 points in the first six minutes of the game. From that point, the Cobras took control, taking a 50-34 lead into halftime and extending the lead to 19 points by the end of the game.
Caldwell had four players with double digits in scoring, including Saiquone Harris who had a game high of 19 points. Cincere Scott added 15, Pharrell Boyogueno scored 14, and Chris Nobles scored 10. The Flyers also had four players score in double figures, as Ayden Gittens finished with 16, Zach Riddle with 15, Isaiah Nelson with 14, and Jamori McDougald with 10.
Caldwell improved to 7-1 on the season while Sandhills fell to 7-5.
Caldwell returns to action this weekend at the 13th annual Brunswick Community College Holiday Classic in Bolivia, NC. The Cobras face East Georgia State on Friday afternoon at 3PM, Harcum at 1PM on Saturday, and Chattanooga State at 2PM on Sunday.
