Caldwell Community College Baseball Wins Two of Three Over the Weekend

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s baseball team picked up its first win of the 2024 season Friday night at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs, defeating Wake Tech 10-6.

Walker Pedante registered the win on the mound for Caldwell, pitching seven innings and allowing only one run off three hits while striking out seven.

At the plate, Caldwell collected six doubles. Jude Mortan had two of those doubles, going 4 for 5 with one RBI. The Cobras also got one RBI each from Greg Billo, Silas Isenhour, and Drew Park.

Caldwell led 9-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before surrendering five runs. Caldwell would get one of those runs back in the top of the ninth, and relief pitcher Andrew Buss would retire Wake Tech in order to pick up the save and secure the victory.

Saturday, in a doubleheader, the Cobras split a doubleheader.

Caldwell rallied twice from a six-run deficit but could not overcome two Wake Tech grand slams, falling 16-13 in game one of doubleheader at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs.
Caldwell had a total of 12 hits in the loss, including five extra-base hits.  Isaiah Kirby hit a homerun while Jayden Singleton had a triple.  Drew Park, Jude Morton, and Silas Isenhour each had a double.  Kirby led the Cobras with three RBI.
In game two, the Cobras got a 3-for-4 hitting performance and three RBI from Drew Park to win 10-2 over Wake Tech in game three of the weekend series at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs.

The Cobras (2-4) earned a split in Saturday’s doubleheader thanks in part to a three run third inning.  Zach Bohn picked up the win on the mound, going four innings and allowing one run off one hit in his outing.
With Caldwell leading 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, relief pitcher Joe Rice got out of a bases loaded jam to preserve the Cobras’ lead.  Rice struck out three while allowing only one earned run in relief.
Greg Bello collected two RBI off a triple for Caldwell.  Jayden Singleton and Caleb White each had an RBI for the Cobras.
Caldwell is 2-4 overall and will host the Ferrum College JV for a doubleheader on Wednesday.
