The Caldwell Community College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Thomas Nelson on Saturday, winning game one 16-5 and game two 10-0.
In game one, Thomas Nelson scored two unearned runs off three hits and an error in the top of the first inning. The Cobras would get on the board in the top of the second when Jermie Greene scored on a passed ball. Caldwell would get the lead in the third inning when they scored seven runs; Tyler Bradley, Greene, Michael Logan, Easton Rhoney, and Cole Hales all had RBI in the inning. In the game, Steven Smith and Jacob Bebber had homeruns. Rhoney, Hales, and Breon Ishmael had doubles. Rhoney led the team with four RBI while Ishmael finished with three RBI, and Logan and Bradley with two apiece. Seth Willis picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight while allowing three earned runs.
In game two, the Cobras picked up their 24th win of the season, jumping out to a 5-0 lead at Thomas Nelson in game two of a doubleheader. Michael Logan’s RBI double in the first inning scored Easton Rhoney to get the scoring going for Caldwell. Logan would later steal in the inning with Hayden Setzer and Steven Smith getting RBI in the inning. Kayl Ratliff, Patrick Usher, Smith, and Logan each had doubles in the game. Kayl Ratliff led the team in RBI with two. Spencer Ledford picked up the shutout win on the mound, allowing only one hit while striking out eight.
Caldwell improves to 24-7 overall, 8-0 in Region 10, Division 3 play.
