Caldwell Baseball Rallies to Defeat CCBC-Essex

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s baseball team scored 11 runs in the fourth inning of a come from behind victory over Community College of Baltimore County-Essex, winning 17-8 Wednesday afternoon at Walker Stadium in Lenoir.

Trailing 6-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, Caldwell erupted for 11 runs off of nine hits and taking advantage of one error.

Caldwell would add three runs in both seventh and eighth innings to pad their advantage en route to their fourth win in a row.

Jude Morton led the Caldwell offensive attack, driving in five runs on three hits. He had two doubles and three RBI in the Cobras’ fourth inning. Greg Bello, Silas Isenhour, and Drew Park each collected two RBI while Drew Brink, Evan Johnson, and Hayden Wilson were all credited with an RBI.

As a team, Caldwell had 16 hits, with eight of those being extra base hits. In addition to Morton’s two doubles, Bello also had two doubles. Evan Johnson, Park, and Caleb White each hit a double and Isenhour had a triple.

Kanon Willis pitched three and one-third inning in relief and was credited with the win. He allowed two runs (one earned) off four hits while striking out four. Avery Strange led the Cobras pitching staff in strikeouts, collecting six strikeouts in his two innings of relief.

Caldwell will host Rockingham Community College in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12PM.
