Caldwell Community College baseball finished the weekend sweep over Thomas Nelson on Sunday with a 13-0 win. The Cobras pitching staff no-hit Thomas Nelson in the mercy-ruled five inning shutout.
Hayden Setzer with the no hitter through five innings. He improves to 7-0 on the season with a 2.41 ERA.
Breon Ishmeal got Caldwell on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a RBI double, Jermie Greene followed with a two RBI homerun as Caldwell jumped out to the early 3-0 lead.
In the third inning, Easton Rhoney would score on a wild pitch. Tyler Bradley got a sacrifice fly RBI, and Mason Lyda got a two out, two RBI single to put Caldwell ahead 7-0. The Cobras would strike for six runs in the fourth inning. Bradley would collect three RBI on triple then come home on an error, Lyda would get an RBI double, and JT Fectau would get an RBI single as Caldwell went ahead 13-0. Setzer would retire the Gators in order in the top of the fifth as the Cobras won via the mercy rule.
Caldwell finishes the regular season 41-7 and 18-0 in Region 10 Division Three. The Cobras will be the top seed in next weekend’s Region 10 D-3 tournament in Mooresville. The Cobras have won 19 games in a row and finish undefeated in divisional games for the second year in a row (36-0).
