Bus Collision in Burke County
On Wednesday (August 30) at approximately 6:30 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated an injury collision in Burke County on Malcolm Boulevard at US 70. A school bus traveling north on Malcolm Boulevard was attempting to make a left turn onto US 70. The bus failed to yield the right of way and struck a 2003 Ford Ranger, traveling south on Malcolm Boulevard. The bus was from Valdese Elementary School in Burke County. There were two children on the bus at the time of the collision and neither were injured. The two occupants in the Ford were transported by EMS to UNC Health Blue Ridge, with minor injuries. The driver of the bus was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
