Burke Sheriff’s Office Provides Update On Case Involving Complaint Filed By Rutherford College Resident

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on a situation involving a complaint about an individual claiming to be police officer. Last Tuesday (August 25), as we previously reported on WHKY, a woman in Rutherford College reported to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office that a woman knocked on her door and claimed to be a police officer. The woman was reported to have been asking the victim suspicious questions about when she worked and when she would not be at home.

The woman told police that she shut and locked the door and the person left in a green colored Subaru with tinted windows. Following an investigation by Burke County detectives, the person and car reported in the incident were found. After conducting interviews and doing additional investigation, detectives determined there was no criminal act and the case was closed. There is no public risk related to this incident.
