Burke County Woman Charged With Meth Possession Following Traffic Stop

39-year-old Tara Nichole Pope of Shady Grove Road in Connelly Springs was arrested Friday (December 8) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine). Pope is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear on a count of failure to comply.

Pope was taken into custody shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday after an order for arrest was found for failure to appear. She’s charged with missing a court date in Burke County. A Deputy also reportedly found methamphetamine during a traffic stop conducted on U.S. 70 in Connelly Springs.

Pope has multiple court dates scheduled in January in Burke County for traffic charges. She also faces multiple traffic charges in Catawba County and has a pair of court dates scheduled in January there. Following Friday’s arrest, Pope was brought to the Burke County Jail under $6,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (December 11). Her next District Court date on the charges filed last Friday is scheduled for this upcoming Friday (December 15).
