BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (WHKY) — The Burke County Tax Revaluation Task Force will meet Tuesday, August 4, at 3 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Burke County Services Building, 110 North Green Street in Morganton.

The task force was created to examine concerns surrounding the county’s most recent property revaluation and to review how property assessments are conducted. Members are expected to discuss issues related to property values, the revaluation process and its impact on homeowners, businesses and taxpayers.

County officials emphasize that while a property’s assessed value is determined through the revaluation process, the county tax rate is established separately by the Burke County Board of Commissioners during the annual budget process. A higher assessed value does not automatically mean a property owner’s tax bill will increase by the same percentage.

The meeting is open to the public.
