60-year-old Michael Curtis Hallyburton of Morganton was arrested Tuesday (March 21) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and traffic counts including flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle.

An Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at approximately 1 a.m. on Highway 127. The driver initially refused to stop and led the Deputy on a brief chase before pulling over. Hallyburton was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $20,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (March 22). A District Court date is scheduled for April 3.
