Burke County Man Charged In String Of BB And Pellet Gun Damage

MAIDEN, N.C. (WHKY) — A Burke County man is facing 13 charges after police connected him to a string of property-damage reports in Maiden.

Elliott Sylvester Braswell III, 38, was arrested September 9. He is charged with five felony counts of injury to real property, two misdemeanor counts of injury to real property and six counts of injury to personal property.

Maiden Police said they received 13 separate reports between July 22 and September 3 involving damage to business windows, residential windows and vehicles along Main Street. Investigators determined the damage was consistent with BBs or pellets fired from an air gun.

According to police, investigators identified Braswell as a suspect after connecting a vehicle he operated to the incidents. Officers searched the vehicle September 8 under a search warrant and reportedly found loose BBs, pellets and carbon-dioxide cartridges inside.

Braswell was being held in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $91,000 secured bond. His first appearance in Catawba County District Court was scheduled for September 10.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office assisted Maiden Police with the investigation.
