Friday (November 5) at 10 a.m., Investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Icard Township Fire and Rescue, the Burke County Emergency Management and Agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation arrived in the area of Icard School Road and Icard Rhodhiss Road to search the area for a missing man.
Mr. Kao Hang was last seen on October 27th, 2021, near the intersection of Icard School Road and Icard Rhodhiss Road in Icard. A man, possibly Mr. Hang, was seen walking away from a vehicle accident at that location around 9 p.m. During the initial search cadaver K-9s and aerial drones were used to search a wide area in several locations. The man was not found during this search.
Members of Icard Township Fire and Rescue, the Burke County Emergency Management, the Burke County Rescue Squad, the Rhodhiss Fire Department the Drowning Creek Fire Department continued an expanded search at approximately 4 p.m. A short time later, the extended search crews found a deceased male in a creek near the area of Highway 70 and East Burke Boulevard.
Detectives with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and were assisted in the recovery of the body by all agencies on scene.
