50-year-old Jeffrey Scott Sellars of Old N.C. 18 in Morganton was arrested Tuesday (April 11) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance.

According to police records, shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, a Public Safety Officer made contact with a man riding a bicycle with no lights. The individual was traveling from the parking lot of a business on Burkemont Avenue. After making contact with the man, identified as Jeffrey Sellers, the officer arrested Sellars on the drug possession charge.

The arrest was made at the intersection of Salem Road and Burkemont Avenue in Morganton. Police reportedly seized .4 grams of methamphetamine while investigating this case. Sellars was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $5,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (April 12). A District Court date was scheduled Tuesday, no upcoming court dates were listed.
