Bears Men’s Tennis Downs Lions

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Tennis team swept Mars Hill 7-0 in their home opener Thursday afternoon.

The match started off with doubles in which Lenoir-Rhyne won three straight matches to claim the doubles point. Mauricio Hernandez and Nicolas Moser defeated Farman/Bernardes 6-0 to start the run and the teams of Rhodri Atkinson/Josh Lazenby and Lewis Scott/Patrik Alvestrand also earned doubles wins.

On the singles side, Atkinson continued the hot play defeating Ramos 6-0, 6-1. Alvestrand then knocked off Ardouni 6-2, 6-2. Moser then defeated Fernandez 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the victory for LR. Lazenby, Scott and Hernandez all won in straight sets as well.

The Bears improve to 2-3 on the season and will be back in action Wednesday March 3 on the road against Newberry.
