The name of the victim in a fatal crash Tuesday (January 10) in Alexander County has been released. The deceased 41-year-old Mary Kay Keller of Taylorsville. On Tuesday, at approximately 6:05 a.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to N.C. 127 near Willie McLeod Road. A 2017 Ford Focus was traveling south on NC 127, lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with a northbound 2000 Mack dump truck.

The driver of the Focus, Mary Kay Keller, passed away as a result of her injuries at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, a 56-year-old Granite Falls man, was not injured. Both drivers were restrained. During the on-scene investigation, N.C. 127 was closed in the area for approximately four hours.
