Police are investigating a vehicle theft following a break-in to a business earlier this week. On Monday (January 1), at approximately 3:15 a.m. Troutman Police Officers were dispatched to a breaking and entering in progress at Dunkin Donuts at 205 North Main Street. While police were on their way to the scene, the caller had updated communications, telling them her vehicle had been stolen during this incident.
When officers arrived they spoke with the employee on duty who was conducting opening tasks when she heard glass shatter. After hearing that, she fled out the back door of the building. It appears that while in the business the suspects found the victim’s car keys and upon leaving took the vehicle, a silver 2018 Hyundai Elantra.
Security camera footage shows that the three suspects shattered the drive-thru glass window and entered the building. All suspects were wearing masks during the break-in. This is similar to numerous recent incidents that have been reported to the Statesville Police Department.
