A fatal shooting this morning (July 29) in Burke County is under investigation. Shortly before 12:30 a.m. today, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address on Knob Avenue in Connelly Springs. Police were told that there was yelling, screaming and gunshots at that residence. Upon arrival, Sheriff’s deputies learned that two men had been shot and a man involved in the shooting had left the scene with a woman.
One of the men was deceased at the scene and the other was transported to a trauma center for medical treatment. The person who was involved in the shooting and had left the scene turned himself in to Cleveland County Sheriff’s Deputies. The Burke County Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has interviewed that individual, who turned himself in. CID also located, and was in the process of interviewing, the woman who had left the scene.
Burke County CID has been in contact with the District Attorney’s Office and continuing the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office will provide additional information when available.
