Authorities In Alexander County Conduct Two-Day Operation That Results In Arrests, Seizure Of Drugs

A drug operation was conducted late last week in Alexander County and it resulted in multiple arrests. Last Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office conducted the two-day initiative which was entitled “Operation April Showers.” The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Taylorsville Police Department, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety K-9 Unit.

“Operation April Showers” was a joint interdiction effort to help with crime prevention and the fight against drugs in Alexander County. This operation was conducted in the areas of NC Highway 16 North, NC Highway 127, NC Highway 16 South, and US Highway 64/90 East from approximately 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. on those dates.

The effort resulted in eight arrests, including three on drug charges, four on outstanding warrants, and one for driving while impaired. In addition, officers issued citations for 77 traffic violations.

Various drugs were seized, including MDMA, methamphetamine, fentanyl, suboxone, marijuana, pills, and drug paraphernalia. The Sheriff’s Office K-9s, along with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety K-9 assisted in this operation.
