42-year-old Floyd Darnell Vasquez of Asheville was arrested Monday (December 13) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine.
Vasquez was arrested by a Burke County Sheriff’s Deputy shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday. He was taken into custody at Exit 94 off Interstate 40. He was then brought before the Burke County Magistrate on the warrant.
According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, Vasquez is also charged with traffic offenses in Burke County including driving while impaired. He’s scheduled to appear in court on the traffic offenses January 22. Vasquez also has pending Superior Court dates in Buncombe County where he is charged with felony counts including possession of schedule II controlled substance and probation violation out of county. Those court dates are scheduled for January 2 and February 15.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Floyd Darnell Vasquez has multiple convictions listed dating back to 2000. The convictions were in Catawba and Buncombe Counties for various felony and misdemeanor drug offenses along with firearm and robbery related charges. His last conviction was in October of 2019 in Catawba County for felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Following Monday’s arrest, Vasquez was brought to the Burke County Jail where he was initially held under no bond on a 48 hour hold. As of earlier today (December 13), Vasquez was being held under $29,000 secured bond. A Burke County District Court date is scheduled Thursday (December 14).
