App’s Wilson-Cook Earns Second Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week Honor
App State senior Oliver Wilson-Cook earned Sun Belt Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for a second time this season, the league announced on Wednesday.
Wilson-Cook clocked an 8K time of 24:23.73 to finish fifth individually at the Covered Bridge Open on Sept. 15. He nearly matched his personal best of 24:23.1, set at last year’s Live in Lou Cross Country Classic. Wilson-Cook, who was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line, helped App State to a second-place team finish on Friday.
The Staunton, Va. native earned the 2023 campaign’s first Runner of the Week honor on Sept. 6 after finishing seventh individually with a time of 24:28.4 at the Firetower Project Run, on Sept. 1. The Mountaineers finished second in the team standings at the Firetower Project Run.
Next up for the Mountaineers will be the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Sept. 30 in Louisville, Ky.
