App’s Guest Finishes Just Shy of Personal Best in 10K at USATF Cross Country Championships

App State senior Calbert Guest represented the Mountaineers at the USATF Cross Country Championships in Richmond, Va. on Saturday.

Guest placed 26th overall with a 10K time of 31:18.7. The Fort Collins, Colo. native came within one minute of his 10K personal best of 30:18.6, which he set at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 10.

“Calbert had a strong race today and he competed well,” said men’s distance coach Brad Herbster. “It was good to have an App State representative at the USATF Cross Country Championships.”

Cooper Teare won the race with a time of 29:06.2.

The top six athletes were selected to represent Team USA at the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships on March 30 in Belgrade, Serbia. USATF Championship medals were awarded to the top-10 finishers of Saturday’s race.
